I'm Not Doing Black Friday This Year ✌️

Hey there,

You've probably received 1 million emails on black friday discounts,

“Black Friday sale!”
“Limited time only!”
“Everything must go!”

Some of these emails might be from trusted, loyal bloggers/sellers who showed up every week with valuable tips and support (good, go support them back!)

Some might be from 'Hey huns' who only email you when they want to sell something without actually caring about you (might be worth unsubscribing from them)

And me?

I'm not participating or selling anything for Black Friday this year because :

  • I don't want to
  • I don't need to

That's all, really :)

There are going to be years when I do sell on Black Friday, nothing wrong at all with selling or discounting products!

I just don't feel like it this year.

I guess I am trying to share, if you set up your business with multiple income streams that earn throughout the year, you don't need to pressure yourself to sell and promote just because everyone else is

Quite often you hear of course owners who make the majority of their money selling courses, but not doing the actual thing they are teaching.

It grinds my gears

But my blogs make money WITHOUT selling courses.

It generates an income from display ads, affiliates, and sponsorships. Courses and digital products are the tip of the iceberg! (a lucrative tip, btw, but a tip nevertheless)

By the way, if you do want FREE helpful tips that won't cost you anything:

So this Black Friday, I feel like chilling and sending this reminder to your inbox :

Intentional spending over emotional spending.
No panic buying.
No pressure from countdown timers.
No FOMO-driven decisions.

If you genuinely need something, buy it when it makes sense for you — not when the internet tells you to.

And honestly?

I’d rather put my money towards things that actually move the needle for my future:

  • investments
  • savings
  • skill-building
  • income-generating tools

Not another random gadget/ course because it was “70% off.”

That's all from me today. Thanks for reading!

Are you skipping Black Friday, too? Or is there one thing you’re planning to buy intentionally?

When I had my daughter, I assumed the hardest part of running my business would be time. I was wrong. The real challenge was mental bandwidth (and energy) 🥶 Before becoming a mom, I could sit down and work for hours. Brainstorm content.Plan projects.Experiment with ideas.Pivot quickly. I could come up with an idea and execute the whole thing in one day because I had 8-10 hours of blissful, uninterrupted TIME Now my work happens in small pockets of time. Two hours during preschool. An hour...

Lately, I’ve been in a strange phase with my work. For the last 8+ years, my blogs have been my business. They gave me freedom. Income. Even the ability for my husband and me to take a long sabbatical together. But this year feels different. I’m now running the same business while raising a baby. And I’m realizing something: The way I used to work doesn’t fit my life anymore. My time looks different. My priorities look different. Even the content I want to create feels different. For a while,...

I set up my second travel blog right after the pandemic, while I was motorbiking through Malaysia with my brother. The blog earned nothing for a solid year, and suddenly, at 13 months, I was able to monetise it properly and earn USD771.25 You can see proof of my earnings here It’s interesting that in my notes, I wrote: ‘I need to diversify revenue sources.’ Clearly, this was worrying me, but why was it taking me so long to diversify my revenue sources? I'll tell you why : Because it's...
