Things I've Learned From Being a Mom

Since becoming a mom, here are some lessons I've learned that are related to blogging:

Before I get into it, here's a quick sponsor

1- I definitely don't want to start a mom blog.

I spend 24 hours a day being a mom; I want a break from it.

I don't want to write about it or do more research about it!

Just because you are passionate about something doesn't mean you should blog about it.

It might take the passion out of it.

Also, you need to find a profitable niche you can write 100 articles on without getting bored and giving up

---You need to check if it's a profitable niche.

Tip- A mom blog IS a profitable niche! :)

2. Some moms are rude trolls, if you can tolerate them ,you can tolerate content creator trolls.

I've had to develop harder skin since being a mom

  • 'You mean you has a c-section? Why? Natural is best ' ( It wasn't a choice, I had an emergency c section)
  • 'That stroller isnt suitable for your baby
  • 'Wow, I lost all my baby weight by week 6 postpartum, Yours will shift if you eat properly'
  • Breast milk is best, I couldnt give my kid formula, its child abuse' ( I didnt ask for their opinon)

3- Your blog can support you financially through maternity leave and beyond

I've done a few hours a month work , yet my blogs continue to earn me a full-time income. Its incredible

I was planning to take 3 months maternity leave, I am now leaning to 6... because I can.

The blogs continue to earn. Seriously, start a blog, do the hard work now, its liberating !

4- I was actually extremely unproductive

Here's a confession: I make around the same as I did from my blogs on maternity leave .... yet I am hardly working

Yes, its because of the hard work I put into setting the blogs up at the beginning

But it WAS NOT necessary for me to work all those hours the last 2 years

I think I was just busy being busy and wasting time

Its an eye opener

5. BUT it's mentally tiring

Having said that, the blogging world changes so much, I can't ignore my business for more than 6 months if I want to continue to earn

Algorithm changes, advertising network policy changes... its all ongoing

I find it quite tiring when I check my emails sporadically

I shouldn't since I'm on maternity leave, but I do :(

And it makes me feel weary when I hear of all the constant changes

But any business you start will have changes, thats the way the cookie crumbles :)

6. People make things up , or hide the truth, don't compare yourself

I've come to the conclusion that most moms struggle the first few weeks of new motherhood, but we don't talk about it

We just see filtered, beautiful pics of them bonding with their babies on Instagram

You don't see the 12am, 2am, 4am, 6am wake ups to feed the baby, cracked nipples, saggy tummy, arguments with their partners and emotional teary lows

Same with blogging

You only see $70k a month lucrative income reports, new FB strategies for oodles of traffic and success

You dont see all the failed blogs because people dont talk about it

Whats it called?

Survivor Bias

You do you, keep writing, keep plodding on

Are you better than last month? Good, keep going

6. Its really lonely

Yeah. I dont know many people who are full time moms who also run a full time blogging business.

I feel quite isolated as there is not much opportunity to meet people.

Do you work while juggling kids ? I'd love to hear from you!

That's all from me today

I take my time when it comes to tech and automation. There are so many tools and features that it's easy to get overwhelmed 🫠 But there are AI tools that have made my life much easier and made my blogs wayyyy more money too :) Here are a few Magic Media on Canva- here is a quick tutorial on how to access and use it Link switcher Content Analytics You can see how these AI tools work here. However, let me briefly illustrate how they work in practice. 1. Magic Media on Canva It generates images...

I seem to have lost my mojo over the last week or so :( I've lost the motivation to do work or anything really... I feel like I am in this endless cycle of feeding my newborn, changing diapers, and putting her to sleep.... again and again and again. It feels incredibly lonely. I can't really do much as all my energy and focus is on her, and it makes me feel a bit isolated, to be honest. I don't know the solution to this, but I'd love to hear any if you have any? Anyway, I tried to get my arse...

You may have heard about the recent Mediavine move to mass ban sites using AI. Many bloggers logged into their Mediavine dashboard, only to discover they were kicked out I also received an email from Mediavine's CEO sharing his hard stance against low-quality AI-generated sites. ' He also provided a form that allowed anyone to report excessive/misuse of AI.🥶 Word on the street is that they will also report banned sites to other ad networks so they, too, can reject low-quality sites. They also...
