Is AI Not Allowed Anymore? π±
Published 6 days agoΒ β’Β 4 min read
You may have heard about the recent Mediavine move to mass ban sites using AI.
Many bloggers logged into their Mediavine dashboard, only to discover they were kicked out
I also received an email from Mediavine's CEO sharing his hard stance against low-quality AI-generated sites. '
He also provided a form that allowed anyone to report excessive/misuse of AI.π₯Ά
Word on the street is that they will also report banned sites to other ad networks so they, too, can reject low-quality sites.
Templated, Made For Advertising, or Low-Value Content
β
Advertisers value original and informative content that cannot be easily found by searching other areas of the web. Websites with low advertiser value repurpose other content that can be easily found on other sites and are solely made to generate advertising revenue.
β
Examples can include:
β
A website where most of the content is dedicated to linking to other sites with little original content provided.
β
A website where most of the content is structured as a list, even if extra text is added relating to each item (Listicle).
β
So, does this mean you can't use AI or write listicles if you want to monetize your site with Mediavine?
I will share my honest thoughts. I could be wrong, I could be right, but here is what I think:
They make money from blog traffic, we make money from blog traffic.... so its in their best interests to delete low performing crappy sites that readers hate and bounce off
And keep good sites that make lots of money because readers love them...even if AI or listicles are used.
I have a feeling, even if you use AI but you modify it and make it useful and readers love it .... you have a much better chance, than a blogger who spins hundreds of crappy listicles that dont actually provide value
I mean, look at the consistent wording :
Excessive use of Artificial Intelligence
Low-Value Content
Low-quality AI-generated sites
β
If your site falls into any of the above, then yes, you are at risk, but then, chances are, you won't make much money anyway, because readers will bounce off your site
I have to confess, I myself, see a clear difference in the quality of my articles when I get lazy and use AI versus when I write the whole thing from scratch, trying to make it as valuable as possible
Here are two articles written with AI, here and hereβ
And here are three original articles that my readers love, with a low bounce rate with lots of emails from readers after reading them
If my entire site had articles like the two AI articles I mentioned above.... then I probably deserve to get banned. There isnt really anything interesting or useful or original that I would be adding to the internet.
But thankfully it doesn't :)
So, if you still want to use AI, add useful personal experience and info, and actually add value to the article and I think you will be ok ;)

I seem to have lost my mojo over the last week or so :( I've lost the motivation to do work or anything really... I feel like I am in this endless cycle of feeding my newborn, changing diapers, and putting her to sleep.... again and again and again. It feels incredibly lonely. I can't really do much as all my energy and focus is on her, and it makes me feel a bit isolated, to be honest. I don't know the solution to this, but I'd love to hear any if you have any? Anyway, I tried to get my arse...
I woke up at 3 am to feed my newborn daughter and decided to check my emails to help keep me awake. I saw one of my Pinterest accounts got suspended; the email I received was below: Before I continue, here is a quick break from our sponsor today, which will help you increase your blog earnings : ππππππππππππππππππππππ βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ So, where was I? I received an email that my account was suspended. BuT, I am still on maternity leave, so my hands are pretty tied...
It's very easy to say blogging and driving traffic to your blog from Google is dead. I also know it's been over a year since these updates ravaged many of our sites. Nevertheless, there comes a point where we need to stop talking about the problem and start finding solutions. For some of us, its diversifying into other platforms, some are improving their blogs, and some of us are doing both. I am in the final group. We keep innovating and trying or we give up. So, why are some blogs still...
